Replacement Bearings for 2000-lbs Dexter Trailer Axle
Question:
I purchased a 2018 SPACE trailer Long Neck that i need to get new bearings for. The company told me they use Dexter 2000lb axles but i am still not sure which bearings i need to get as there are a couple different 2000lb axles! I tried looking for the serial number on the axle but its rusty and i can not find it. Please help me out. Thanks

I can absolutely help you locate the parts you're looking for, but you will need to pull the hubs off if you can't locate any identifying information like a serial number on the axle.
For axles in the 1,000 - 2,000 pound capacity, there are two common bearing combinations. Depending on the spindle that was used, your hubs and axle could require two # L44643 bearings or two # L44649 bearings. There is only about 1/16 of an inch difference in the spindle diameter that these two bearings fit, so it is important to make sure you choose the correct replacement bearings. As I mentioned, you'll want to either confirm which bearings you've got by pulling the hubs off and checking for a stamped number or you can measure the spindle using a digital calipers like the # PTW80157.
This would be the best way to determine which bearings you've got on your 2018 Space trailer. I've also linked a helpful article on trailer bearings, as well.
