Question:

I have a homemade utility trailer with a mobile home axle under it. I measured the spindle and it it 11/2” where the inner bearing and grease seal ride, and 11/4” where the putter bearing rides. The spindle is 41/8” long.3” where the bearings and seal ride.

What parts are you needing, exactly? If you need bearings and a grease seal, we can likely help you there but for replacement hubs, we don't offer anything that would work with bearing sets with the dimensions you mentioned. If you could reply with the reference number from the inner race or bearing, I'd be happy to recommend a replacement inner bearing and grease seal. Your outer bearing dimension points to a # LM67048 bearing which uses a # LM67010 race.

Mobile home axles are a one-time use item that are meant to be discarded afterwards. Many folks will use them for home-made trailers because they're readily available and either free or very inexpensive but the problem lies in the fact that they're purposely made with unobtainable oddball parts so the parts that wear can't be replaced.

If you're needing replacement hubs your best bet would be to replace the existing axle with something that's compatible with readily available parts. If you'd care to reply with the axle capacity, the distance from hub face to hub face and the distance between the centers of the spring seats, I'd be happy to check to see if we offer a replacement axle that would work for you. I've provided a diagram showing the dimensions needed.
