Identifying Base Plate Kit to Flat Tow 2005 Jeep TJ Wrangler

Question:

We just bought a 2005 Jeep Wrangler for flat towing behind our Motorhome. The Jeep already has a Base Plate installed that was used for this purpose. It does not say on the manufacturer of the Base Plate so we need to know what tow system it would be compatible with. Ive attached a picture and hopefully you can help us on what we need. Thank You!

Thanks for the picture of the front end of your 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Based on that you have the Blue Ox Fixed Arm Kit part # BX1120. For a tow bar the Blue Ox Avail part # BX7420 is a great option as it's easy to use and allows the vehicle to track well behind the RV.

For a kit that includes wiring, locks, and a storage bag you'd want the part # BX88308.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
