Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Outback
Question:
I have a 2018 Subaru Outback Touring 3.6r. i am considering the eco-hitch 306-X7601. looking for a recommendation for a wiring harness. i will be pulling a trailer occasionally at best, not sure if i should add the wiring harness but figure while i am installing the hitch it would be easier. Most of my towing will be getting mulch once or twice a year. a majority of the time i will be using the hitch for a bike rack. a link to the harness install would be helpful as well. thank you

Although I'd love to sell you the EcoHitch # 306-X7601, the Curt Class III part # C13410 will be just as concealed as the EcoHitch at a lower cost. Curt makes a high quality product that's on par with that of EcoHitch. In this instance you'll sacrifice absolutely nothing by going with the less expensive option.
The upside of the EcoHitch is that it is made in the USA and has a mission to recycled materials. Since you'll be towing at some point in the future, there's really no reason not to go ahead and get a wiring harness now rather than later. I'd recommend the Tekonsha T-One harness, part # 118467. You'll also need a ball mount like # C45010 with a pin and clip # PC3 and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.
I've linked to installation instructions and videos for the hitches and wiring harness mentioned above.
