Was Thule TH613 Pulse Alpine Roof Cargo Box Shown In Video on 2013 Subaru Crosstrek Modified to Fit

Question:

Was there any special mods made to install the very long Thule Pulse Alpine on the tiny Subaru Crosstrek roof, as seen in your product photos? Having a hard time confirming that a long Alpineinch either the Motion XT or Pulse roof box will fit our new 2021 Crosstrek.

There were no modifications made, as Thule does not recommend making any modifications to the attachment hardware in order to make something fit.

The Thule Pulse Alpine roof box, part # TH613 fits crossbar spreads between 23-5/8 and 35-3/4 inches. The Motion Alpine roof box like # TH629506 requires bar spreads between 23-5/8 and 36-7/8 inches. As long as your crossbars can be adjusted so the center to center distance between the front and rear crossbar falls into either range, either box would work well.

Another dimension you'll want to be aware of is the necessary rear hatch clearance. This will determine if you'll be able to open the rear hatch without hitting the rear of the box. To determine that, if it's adjustable, move the front crossbar all the way forward toward the front of the vehicle. Measure from the center of the crossbar width back to the seam between the vehicle roof and the rear hatch. If this distance is at least 55-1/4 inches, the Alpine Pulse box would allow you to fully open the hatch. If the distance is at least 55 inches, the Alpine Motion XT box would allow the hatch to fully open.
