Does Install of Curt Trailer Hitch on 2017 BMW X5 Require Programming from Dealer
Question:
2017 BMW X5 xdrive40e I enquired about a hitch at a local Beemer specialty shop and a dealership and they both made a big deal about programming the car as part of any hitch installation. The dealer stated that a module needed to installed and programed. I downloaded the installation pdf from your site and programming is not mentioned. Do you have any insight into if the vehicle actually needs this programing? Thanks,

When installing a trailer hitch on your 2017 BMW X5 like the Curt # 13077 there would be no programming required from a BMW dealer. This would be more common with trailer wiring that integrates into the vehicle's wiring but the kits we offer like the # 119250KIT do not need this either. So basically only OEM style wiring would require the programming.
