Recommended Bunk Board Replacement Options for Boat Trailer

Question:

I have Qty 2 of 2inch x 4inch x 24inch L side bunks that I want to simply replace bc they look old. Can you give me the options for that? Also, why does the bottom have 2 sets of bunks on each side of the boat? My boat is 17.1foot long then you add what 2inch past the stern, so if you add all that up I would need 8.6foot long bunks? Would i be ok to go with 7foot since that is longest you offer? I believe on the bottom one bun is longer than the other on each side. It is a 1995 Astro 17cc center console boat with EZ loader trailer.

For your boat trailer, the length of bunks is dependent on the boat and the trailer, so I would be hesitant to change anything from the factory. It soulds like you have a couple of 2 foot bunk boards that need to be replaced and you can use the CE Smith Carpeted Johnboat Bunk Board for Boat Trailers - 2' Long - Qty 1 # CE27850 for the replacement.

You can use shorter bunk boards in combination to reach your current lengths. Doing so will sometimes even increase the strength because the stress is not as drawn out on the grain of the wood and at times additional brackets are needed which increases support.

You can use the following:
CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 3' Long - 1 Pair # CE27800
CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 4' Long - 1 Pair # CE27810
CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 5' Long - 1 Pair # CE27820
CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 6' Long - 1 Pair # CE27840
CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 7' Long - 1 Pair # CE27845

Your final option is to use locally obtained treated boards and then use the marine carpet in your desired color and length. You will want to get stainless steel stables from your local hardware store for attaching that marine carpet.
