Can Spare 7-Way Trailer Connector Be Used To Attach Winch From Trailer to Vehicle
Question:
can a typical 7 pin round connector be wired separately to operate a winch from the car battery? Only the power and ground ports would be used.

In order to bridge the connection for a winch between vehicle and trailer you'll need to use heavy duty connection points like those on the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20206. In regards to using a 7-way trailer connector, this will not work as they won't accept a wire large enough to be used with a winch.
