Recommended Trailer Hitch, Wiring Harness and Brake Controller for 2017 Nissan Pathfinder
Question:
Hello, we are in the process of getting a camper and I want to install tow package myself, but I am not familiar with it. The camper has trailer brakes and so I will need everything in the tow package. Hitch, wiring, trailer brake, and 2inch ball hitch. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Let's begin with the class III trailer hitch. I'd recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # C13309. This US made hitch offers great quality at a reasonable price point. The hitch is a concealed design, which means that the only portion of the hitch that will be visible from the rear of the vehicle is the receiver tube and the safety chain hoops. The hitch crossbar is fully concealed behind the bumper.
For a trailer wiring harness, use part # 118273 which provides a 7-way trailer connector. For a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160 for great performance, ease of use and reasonable cost. You'll also need the # 3050-P brake control wiring harness.
When we installed the Curt # C13309 on a 2018 Pathfinder, we found the installed receiver height to be 14 inches. Since the average trailer coupler height is right around 17 inches, the # 2753 would place you close enough to that mark, assuming your Pathfinder uses the stock tire size and ride height. For a 1-7/8 inch ball, use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
If you use the provided links, you can see installation videos for the hitch, wiring harness and brake controllers mentioned above.
