How to Choose Correct Trailer Hub Replacement
Question:
My boat plus the engine weighs around 2.300 lbs. Im assuming my trailer had minimum capacity 2.500lbs. I need to change the hubs. Should I buy a hub capacity 2.500 lbs each or 1.250 lbs each?

Axle capacity is just one of the things you will need to know in order to choose the correct hub, but using that alone won't ensure a fit, there are a number of things you'll need to get the right hub.
Along with the capacity of the axle, you also need to know what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper to measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.
Additionally, you need to know your hub's wheel bolt pattern; if you do not know what it is I have added a help article which details how you can find it, as well as a printable bolt hole template you can use.
So for example the Galvanized Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K is for 2,000 lb axles that use inner and outer bearing # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) and grease seal # 10-9 (1.50" inner diameter).
