Recommended Trailer Brake Controller and Weight Distribution Sway Control for 2013 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
Im looking for a brake controller for my 2013 Chevy Tahoe, it has the max tow package however, it does not have the factory integrated trailer brake. i believe it does have the factory 7 pin connector. i am looking at the tekonsha P3, is this a good choice? also what harness to i need to wire it up? also Im looking at the Anderson weight distribution hitch with sway control, i haven found many reviews on it. what are your thoughts or recommendations? do you carry this item?

For your 2013 Chevy Tahoe with factory tow package, I recommend adding the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. This is one of the most popular controllers because of the quality and LCD screen that makes customizing the controller for your desired ride easy.
This brake controller will connect to wires already present under your dash but without a harness. You will simply separate the wires, strip the ends, and use the butt connectors that come with the brake controller to give you the wiring harness that plugs into the controller. The wires under the dash are already connected to your 7-way so you'll be good to go on the wiring end. I've attached a video of the installation on a 2011 model to assist.
We don't carry the Andersen weight distribution system with sway control, but their system uses springs to keep the trailer aligned. I believe an Equalizer System a better system for keeping your trailer from sway and leveling your load. You just need to determine the total tongue weight you need. The total tongue weight is the loaded trailer tongue along with any weight behind the rear axle of your Tahoe. That total tongue weight ideally should fall in the middle of the weight range of the weight distribution system. For instance if that total tongue weight is 450 lbs then I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # EQ37060ET.
I've attached a couple help articles on weight distribution to assist.
