Comparing Reese Goose Box and Convert-A-Ball Adapter for Short Bed Ford Super Duty
Question:
I currently have a short bed 2017 f250 4x4. I just bought a new toy hauler that the previous owner was towing with a gooseneck adapter. He had a 2015 short bed chevy 2500. He was using the BW turn over ball gooseneck hitch and had a EZ Lift 7500 15inch extension on the pin box of the trailer. I liked the idea of keeping my bed clear or a sliding hitch. So I purchased BW turn over ball gooseneck hitch and a 4inch offset ball. But Im trying to determine what the best set up is to make sure I have the appropriate turning clearance a bed rail clearance. Ive been reading about the Reese Goose Box and like the options it has. But Im wondering if I will need a little more clearance from my cab. The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter is also something Im looking at. Just wondering what the safest set up would be for my truck and what parts I would need. Any help would be very appreciated. thank you

In regards to the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter part # RP85FR and Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216, there is one very key difference and that is warranty. The pin box replacement would be much more secure than the pin box adapter and will allow you to retain the trailer frame warranty whereas the pin box adapter could void this. Therefore, the pin box adapter is a much better option. It is also not advised to combine two offset adapters together.
The turning clearance will be different for every truck and trailer combo so measuring is the only way to predict this beforehand.
