Troubleshooting Trailer Connection Disconnecting Periodically
Question:
I have checked and thought i found the problem. I fixed what i thought it was a which was a wire that was disconnected. I have been towing my trailer for 2 days now and i get a message on my dashboard say “check trailer wiring” then “trailer brake connected” the next second. Would you have any clue to what is causing this problem.

Expert Reply:
Your issue is almost always corrosion on the brake output circuit pin of your 7-way which causes the connection to the trailer to become intermittent. Take some sandpaper to the pins of your trailer connectors and you'll see the problem go away.
