When Using the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite In User Controlled Mode Does the Power Ramp Up or Apply Instant

Question:

This looks like the perfect controller for my needs: running a trailer with 12V electric brakes from my 24V antique military truck. I also like the small knob on the dash with the main controller mounted remotely. I do have one question: when the controller is in off road mode, do the brakes go to the FULL preset braking level instantly when the tow vehicle brakes are applied, or is there a slight ramp to the braking action. This is a bit of a concern when the preset braking level is set to the high end of range, as it would result in immediately slamming the trailer brakes on as soon as the tow vehicle brakes were touched. I do realize I can use proportional braking mode. Im asking about the behavior when in off-road mode.

The user controlled mode on the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR will act similar to a timed-delay brake controller. Therefore, the amount of power applied to the trailer brakes when in the user controlled mode will ramp up to the pre-set level to ensure the brakes on the trailer do not lock up. For example, if you were to turn the brake controller up to the highest setting while in user controlled mode, the amount of voltage sent to the trailer's brakes would be 12 volts but not initially as power would start at a lower voltage and then ramp up until the pre-set setting was reached which in this case is 12 volts.
