Solution for Loading 2 Kayaks on 2018 Toyota 4Runner with 53 Bar Space

Question:

If the 53” crossbars are too short for 2 hullavators and the 60” crossbars are too long can the crossbars be cut down to proper size and recapped at the ends? If so what would be the proper length? 2018 Toyota 4Runner If bars can be cut down can I use Yakima streamline or do I need to use Thule wingbar. Or does it not matter both can be cut? 2 kayaks 28- 30” each.

The Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 requires 28.5" of crossbar space, so you're really going to be hard pressed to fit 2 on them using anything smaller than 60" of crossbar. Because of the limited size of crossbars available for your vehicle, the likely best solution is going to be the Malone DownLoader with Telus Load Assist # MPG114MD-351XL and an additional # MPG114MD to use on the other side of the vehicle. Since the Telus can be swapped between these J-Style carriers, this would provide you with an easy to load solution for both of your kayaks.

I've linked a review video to show how the Telus works, but it's super easy and sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for!
