Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2012 Nissan Murano

I had an installer install my hitch and WIRING on my maruno.It is fused to the batt. like yours is. the problem is when you put a fuse in the fuse holder and then drive the vehicle by itself no lights on just the turn signal and brake light it blows the fuse they installed at the batt. There converter kit made by kurt looks like it does not have the plug and play connections like your 118653.What do you think is wrong #1 spliced wire connected wrong or there converter kit is not compatible with with my 2012 maruno or something else? They say they used the wire kit the installer called for. I guess I am going to end up ordering one from you and getting to work right. I knew I should have inatalled this my self but time constraints etc.stopped me. What is the difference between the 79,95 priced one and the 54.95 priced one? Any help you can give me so I can resolve this would be greatly appreciated now and in the future.

If they used a hardwire Curt harness, it was probably # C59236. It uses a 10 amp fuse but if the fuse is blowing when no trailer is connected something must be wired wrong or there is a short somewhere where the wires from the converter are connected.

I recommend going with a T-connector like # 118653. This system plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring and also requires a direct connection to the battery to provide the power for the trailer lights. The benefit of the T-connector is that you do not have to splice into the vehicle wiring.

This harness and Curt harness # 55571 work the same way and you can go with either one. Curt has recently started upgrading converters with newer technology but as far as installation and how each one works they will be the same.
