Solution for Carrying a Small Generator on the Back of an RV

Question:

I was thinking of buying this to use as a stand alone platform to carry a small inverter generator. Would you recommend this and if so what is the weight limit on this item? The generator is 60 lbs and the rv bumper is rated for 200 lbs. thank you.

I have a solution for you, but the # e99052 is not designed to be used as a standalone carrier; it would need to be used with the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs # e99049 in order to carry any real weight. This carrier has a capacity of 500-lbs, so it would do well for carrying a generator.

With that said, you may want to instead look at the Mount-n-Lock GennyGo Generator and Cargo Carrier for RV Bumpers - Steel - 200 lbs # MNT54FR, which has over 60 tie down points and is designed specifically for carrying a generator like yours.

I've linked a video that shows more about the Mount-n-Lock for you to have a look at.

I have a very small motorcycle (Honda Grom - 230 pounds). Could I use the e99049 on the back of my 5th wheel to carry this motorcycle? Pros/Cons? My main concern is even though the carrier is rated at 500 pounds, is there any reason not to carry it on the back?

Capacity-wise the etrailer Cargo Carrier # e99049 could handle your motorcycle, but I honestly think there would be too much instability and movement to provide safe transport. This really should only be used for simple cargo or a tied down generator. A better option will be with a hitch-mounted carrier like the Ultra-Fab # UF48-979033.
