Replacement Trailer Wiring Solution for 1997 Jayco Eagle 10 LD with Square 6-Way
Question:
I just purchased my 1997 Jayco Eagle 10 LD popup camper. My truck has a 7 way connector picture #1 and the camper has a 6 way connector picture #2. There is a separate 2 way plug in picture #2 black and white wires that I’m not sure what their function is, I did not see it until I got home as it was tucked inside the rail. I am wondering what the best option would be for me. First option: replacing the camper’s 6 way with a 7 way plug. Second option: buying a 6 way plug with a 4 way flat adapter to plug into the 7 way plug adapter with a 4 way flat end that I already have. Also, if you know what the 2 way plug is for it would be a big help. I’ve attached pictures for your reference. Thanks for your help!

Jayco is the only manufacturer that uses that type of 6-Way connector. We do not have a replacement that is going to work. Since yours is broken this is the perfect time to install a 7-Way connector on the trailer so you do not have to mess with various adapters. If you do not want to change to a 7-Way on the trailer then you would need to get a an adapter from Jayco.
But to add a 7-Way RV style connector to the trailer you can use something like # H20042. You will need to determine what the functions of the Jayco connectors wires are and then attach them to the 7-Way as follows:
White wire is ground
Red wire is left turn and brake
Brown wire is right turn and brake
Green wire is tail lights
Blue wire is output to the trailer brakes
Black wire is 12 volt power
Yellow wire is auxiliary power or reverse lights
I am not totally sure what the function of the 2-way is but you could apply power and ground to the two pins and see what lights up or activates. Hopefully it could then be integrated into the 7-way so that you don't need additional wiring.
