Recommendations For Lifting Jayco Jay 1207 Pop Up Tent Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a 1996 Jayco Jay Series 1207 tent trailer, and would like to increase the ground clearance by at least a few inches as it is quite low. It doesnt have leaf springs so a axle flipinch isnt an option. I dont know much about other suspension types. However, it appears I likely have a Dexter Torflex suspension. I tried uploading pictures but they wouldnt upload. I am hoping to find the right suspension lift kit in order to raise the trailer by 3-6 inches if possible. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

A Torflex Lift Kit # K71-723-01 or # K71-707-02 will get you a lift of 2-5/8". The correct one for your application will depend on your axle.

The Torflex Lift Kit # K71-723-01 is for a number 9 Torflex axle and has bolt holes that are 7-3/4" apart.

The Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-02 is for a number 10 Torflex axle and has bolt holes that are 8" apart.

I recommend the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" White Wheel # AM3S120 as it looks to be the tire that would best give you the amount of lift you are looking to achieve. It will require you to measure and possibly trim some of the wheel opening to ensure you have proper clearance. The tire is 24" in diameter and 6.6" wide. so it will be 3-1/2" taller and 1.4" narrower than your current tire. Since you will only be concerned with clearance to the fenders the measurement of your current tire will be roughly 1-3/4" father. You should not have any vertical clearance issues as the lift blocks increased that 2-5/8".
