You will not need to replace the brakes on your trailer when converting from grease lube hubs to oil bath hubs. The oil bath hubs that you choose should come with the proper bearings, seal and oil cap for that hub. You will want to check the part numbers on your bearings and seals to ensure you select the correct hubs for your spindles.

We carry two oil bath hub and drum assemblies. Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, # 8-219-9UC3-A, fits 5,200 lb to 7,000 lb axles with spindles that require a 2-1/4 inch inner diameter seal and # 8-219-9UC3 fit 5,200 lb to 7,000 lb axles with spindles that require a 2-1/8 inch inner diameter seal. The bearings and seals that are included with these hubs are listed on the product page.

Another thing to keep in mind is the bolt pattern of the oil bath hubs that you are adding. If the bolt pattern of the new hubs are different than the bolt pattern of your old hubs, then you will also need to change the wheels or find hubs that have the same bolt pattern as your existing hubs.

The hubs that we offer have an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. I have attached an article on how to determine your bolt pattern.
