How Much Does the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch and Slider Weigh and How do you Dismantle the Hitch

Question:

How much does the hitch portion weigh? How much does the rail system weight? I have to remove the hitch frequently, does it easily break down to more than two pieces to help reduce weight?

The Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch with Slider, # RP30051, consists of the head, # RP58146, the crossmember head support, # RP58147, and the square tube slider, # RP30048. The head weighs approximately 55 lbs, the crossmember weights approximately 37 lbs and the slider legs weigh approximately 60 lbs.

The slider legs are held to the base rails using pins and clips, the crossmember is held to the slider legs u sing bolts and the head unit is held to the crossmember using pins and clips. We have found that due to the force that is applied on the head of the hitch, the large pivot pin that holds the head to the crossmember can be difficult to remove. In some instances a hammer may be necessary to persuade the pivot pin out.

Due to the overall weight of the hitch, Reese designed the hitch so it could be taken out of a truck bed piece by piece. The assembly is fairly easy, but you will need a wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the crossmember to the slider legs.
