How to Choose Correct Width Lippert Solid Step Folding RV Steps

Question:

Im looking to purchase lippert solid step stairs, but the description of door measurements are incorrect. Rough in is not measurable after a door is installed. Rather I need to know either the maximum width of the stairs so I can compare to the minimum width of the doorway opening. My door has a flange that behaves as a door stop. It is the minimum opening of the doorway. But that measurements is never asked for in the instructions. Its 27.5 the doorway frame is 29 wide. But I suspect the smallest opening width is what they mean. Can you confirm the width that they mean?

In terms of choosing a Lippert Solid Step, you'll use the width of the finished door at it's narrowest. Round that number up to the next full inch, which in your case would be 28 inches. In that case, you'll want the adjustable model which fits 26-29-7/8 inch wide doors. The latches that hold the steps in the upward position are width adjustable.

For your door width, there's a 2, 3 or 4 step unit available. For a 2 step unit for a 22-28 inch entry height, use part #LC733931, for a 3 step with an entry height of 27-36 inches, use # LC791572 or for 4 steps with an entry height of 35-44 inches, go with # LC791574.
