Recommended Safety Chains for 3,000 Lb Boat Trailer

Question:

I need to replace my boats safety cable chains the cable chains that are on there now are frame but I do not know how to choose the correct size chain to replace it with my boat weighs 3000 pounds and I measured a line from where the chains both up to the trailer to the back of my receiver hitch and it’s 34 inches but that’s a straight line I know I need room to cross them in some slack what size do you recommend

Expert Reply:

The 72" Long Safety Chain with S-Hooks part # TCTSCG30-772-04x2 can be cut in half to provide you with two suitable safety chains for a boat trailer. There won't be any issues with weight as they have a 5,000 lb capacity or length as each end will be 36" long.
