Recommended Weight Distribution System for 5,000 lb Travel Trailer and 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I previously requested recommendation for a WD hitch for a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with V6 engine a towing 5000 lb travel trailer. Jason provided info for tongue weight exceeding 500 lb which is NOT my case. More specifically, the maximum trailer weight with cargo is 4400 lb and tongue weight is 413 lb. What WD hitch, if any, do you recommend???

For your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 12K GTW, 1.2K TW # RP66560. This system is rated for total tongue weight between 600 and 1200 lbs. That total tongue weight is the loaded tongue weight of the trailer as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your Jeep. This will help not only disperse weight but also help control trailer sway.
You will also need either the 2" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 10,000 # A-90 or the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-3/4" Long Shank - Chrome - 12,000 lbs # 19286.
