Parts Needed To Tow a Trailer with a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
Hi, our family is new to camping and towing an RV. We have a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan that we would like to use as a tow vehicle. From what I have read online, our max tow capacity is 3600 lbs including passengers and cargo. We plan to purchase a pop up trailer with a goal of staying well under the max capacity. Well need to add a hitch and plug and anything else we might need to our minivan. Im now seeing things about tongue weight, etc, but not quite sure what else we need to take into consideration. Can you provide some insight as to what well need to get started getting our minivan set up for towing a pop up camper? Thanks!

The parts needed to tow a trailer with a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan are a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball.
For a trailer hitch, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98854 is what I highly recommend as it has an easy bolt-on install, hidden crosstube, and matte finish. For a trailer wiring harness, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56331 for a 4-way (no trailer brakes) or part # ETBC7 for a 7-way (trailer brakes) are excellent reliable, plug-in-play options. Then to complete your setup, the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 has the rest of what is needed.
If the trailer does have brakes, you'll need a brake controller and the best option for this is the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. I linked two installation videos below on the etrailer hitch and the Curt Wiring harness being installed onto your exact vehicle.
