Recommended Weight Distribution System for Toy Hauler with 1,200 Lb Dry Tongue Weight
Question:
Hello, Im wondering if youre able to quote a custom weight distribution hitch system. I have a 32ft tow hauler that is 10.5K lbs gross but has a large tongue weight. Claimed empty is tongue weight is 1200lb but Ive scaled it as high as 1500lbs with a full tank of water when running without the dirt bikes in the back. Most of the off the shelf systems with a tongue rating of 1500lbs have bars rated for well over 10K lbs. Im worried Id have a really rough ride when running without the bikes in the back. Is it possible to get a head with a higher tongue weight rating but with smaller bars? I was hoping to find a round bar system like the Pro Series 49570 but I wasnt sure it would be a large enough tongue weight. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The best cost effective option I have for a tow hauler with a tongue weight around 1,200 lbs - 1,500 lbs is the Reese Titan Weight Distribution System part # RP66006 with the Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP54970. I know this is more than you are looking to spend but the systems rated this high are not cheap. In regards to towing while loaded vs. unloaded, you could simply increase or decrease tension on the springs bars using the different links.
I would not have any sort of system with round bars rated as high as you need nor could one be obtained with "a head with a higher tongue weight rating but with smaller bars" as you put.
