The Prodigy P2 brake controller part # 90885 is what I would consider the best brake controller for your 2017 Ram Promaster. It's very reliable and has the most advanced inertia sensor so that it can sense how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and apply the same braking intensity to the trailer brakes.

We had the chance to install this on a similar 2016 Ram Promaster 1500 and I attached an install video that covers the whole process to this page.
