Reduced Braking Power When Using Manual Override On Curt Echo
Question:
I just purchased the curt echo from you for my new 2500LB. dump trailer with dual wheel and brakes. I connect the trailer to my 2019 ram 1500 Dt. everything shows its all good, connected and app is working. I drive about 25 mph to set the echo and I have both settings at max setting and when I hold the app button to apply the brakes manually, It barely makes a difference. I can feel the trailer slowing the truck down but not enough, at least thats my feelings about it.. The trailer wheels are even close to locking up at the max settings.. I am worried that if I add 2 or 3 tons to the trailer that the trailer brakes wont function as they should... Please advise.. Thank you

If you have the brake controller settings for the Curt Echo Part # C51180 set to max and the braking power is insufficient with standard braking then the sensitivity needs to be increased as well. Since you are pressing the manual override and the braking power is insufficient, I recommend to check the ground on the 7-way to make sure you have a proper ground connection. The ground not having a good connection will reduce the braking power with the Echo as per the instructions. I have attached a snip from the instructions that shows how to adjust sensitivity.
