Least Expensive Trailer Hitch, Wiring Harness, and Brake Controller for 2009 Lexus RX 350

Question:

I have a 2009 Lexus RX350 with tow prep package. I have a hitch already, but need wiring for a controller and the controller itself. I have picked 39523, 18002, and ETBC7. Will these parts do the job for towing a small travel trailer with brakes?

I will give you a list of all the most budget-friendly parts for a complete towing set up for your 2009 Lexus RX 350. It sounds like you have a trailer with electric brakes, so you will need a hitch, 7-way, 4-way (which is needed because it plugs into the 7-way), ball mount, 2" hitch ball and brake controller. So here is the list of the most economical parts for you:

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13530
- Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55563
- Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball # C45056
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
- Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller # 39523
- Brake Control Plug-In Harness # 20127

I have added links to some video reviews for you to check out as well.

If I just wanted to attach a receiver hitch to my Lexus RX350 with tow prep package and a 4 pin/7 pin plug and not a brake controller, what parts would I need? SaY I just want to tow a small, lightweight trailer. I'm leaning towards the Drawtite hitch because it doesn't block the spare tire at all. Thank you.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75153 would be an excellent choice as well for your 2009 Lexus RX 350, so you would be able to use it to tow a small trailer. If you didn't want to use a brake controller you wouldn't have to install one, and since you have the factory tow package, there isn't a plug-in wiring kit for your vehicle. You would need to cut off the tow package connector and hardwire the 4-Pole 60" Long Vehicle End # 18002. I have added a link to a video install of this connector for you as well as the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75153.
