There are other fits for brake controllers for the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. If you are looking for a traditional brake controller in the cab, I recommend Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 because of its ability to set predetermined boost settings for heavier towing. The Tekonsha P2 is one of our most popular options and is very reliable. You will need the brake controller adapter part # 3020-P which is designed to plug into the factory brake controller port under the dash.
If your truck has a factory 4-way and not a 7-way plug, you can use the # 3020-P adapter and an # ETBC7 which will give you all the components needed to add a 7-way plug to the truck. You will need a 4-way wiring harness to use with the ETBC7, if your truck is not equipped you will need part # 119178KIT that will hard wire in.
