Why is Brake-Rite Relay Kit Needed for Using the Even Brake on a 2012 Jeep Liberty
Question:
If im going to be using an even brake system, I will need to leave the ignition on to make the cigarette lighter have power for the even brake, as in your video. Doesnt that defeat the purpose of installing the brake light relay kit? so the brake lights would activate as normal, and they would interfere with the motorhome towed vehicle wiring.

The Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 is simply used to make sure that the turn signal on your 2012 Jeep Liberty works properly even when your brake pedal is being pressed. Since the brake lights will still activate with the Even Brake # RM-9400, the relay kit is needed to ensure that the braking action of your Jeep doesn't override the turn signal coming from the motorhome. I took a look at the online owner's manual and it looks like your ignition should be in the OFF position while flat towing, although there is a series of things you need to do to get it to tow mode.
The Even Brake comes with the relay kit so you won't be need to purchase that separately. I've attached an installation video of the Even Brake and the relay kit on a 2012 Jeep Liberty that you can check out.
