Recommended Brake Light Relay Kit For 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Being Flat-Towed

Question:

I just installed the Universal RM-154 and was wondering if my motor home is powering the rear lights and turn signals on my jeep Cherokee trailhawk or is it still draining my jeeps battery while towing, since the brake lights and turn signals are still operating. And if so, what should I do to make sure my battery is not drained when I get to my destination? Thank you

I called my contact at Roadmaster about your Cherokee Trailhawk. They told me that if you are using a supplemental brake system that physically pushes on the brake pedal in your Jeep, it will drain the battery. We do have a solution for you.

You can install a brake light relay like part # RM-88400. This installs on the stop light switch wire that goes from the stop light switch at the top of your brake pedal to the lights on your Jeep. When the motorhome is connected to the Jeep this relay stops the signal from the stop light switch from overriding the motorhome signal and no battery loss occurs.

When the motorhome is not hooked up to the Jeep the brake lights function normally when the brake pedal is pressed.

If your Cherokee has 4 wheel drive or the Activedrive 2 system, to maintain the vehicle's stable steering while being flat towed you will want to install the Mopar accessory kit 68321424AB, available from your Jeep dealer. This kit will prevent the Cherokee's steering from shaking while being flat towed.
