Troubleshooting Volkswagen Factory 7-way Trailer Connection Issue
Question:
I have a 2008 VW Touareg 2 with factory hitch. I connect the 4 wire trailer harness to the 7 pin factory. Everything works except the brake lights . Turn signals work on the right circuits - I checked each bulb individually. I also get a warning in the dash to check brake lights so the car is recognizing the problem. What could be the issue? Thanks.

The issue with your Volkswagen with the trailer wiring is the draw on the trailer is not enough. What will solve your dash issue as well as your trailer lighting issue is the 7-Way Trailer Adapter for VW, Audi, and Porsche Towing Trailers with LED Lights # C57003. This adapter is made specifically for what you are describing.
