Testing Trailer Brake Magnets Using a Multi-meter
Question:
Why would only three brakes stop working and one continues to work properly! Have proper amps at wire splice locations, and a little high at mag 4.2. How can I trouble shoot to fix my prob?

You can use a mutli-meter like # PT89ZR if needed, and test the magnets using the FAQ I have linked to guide you. The first thing I would check before getting too involved is the grounds for the brake magnets that are not working. Make sure they are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. Without a good ground, the circuit cannot be completed and the brakes will not work.
Also check the main ground at the trailer connector and all of the wiring for any nicks with exposed wires that may be touching the metal of the trailer frame. If the brake magnets have the windings coming through then they will need to be replaced.
After you have done these checks, you can go on to testing the electrical functionality of the magnets using the FAQ and the multi-meter.
