Roof Thickness Requirement To Install Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent On Enclosed Cargo Trailer

Question:

Im thinking of installing one of these vent/fans on my enclosed cargo trailer, I cant any pictures or information about how thick the roof needs to be for this to mount correctly? Like will it work just using the thickness of the aluminum roof? or does it need to to thicker like an insulated rv roof?

The Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan vent part # VP-543SP is designed for roof 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" thick. The vent is designed for enclosed trailers so you shouldn't have an issue installing it on your aluminum roof as long as it's 1-1/2" thick. It also requires a 6-1/4" Diameter cut out and a 12V power source. A lot of customers use these vents on truck bed campers and aluminum enclosed trailers with thinner roofs. I recommend to also take a look at the attached video that includes some other helpful measurements.

You will also need part # 344270KITW to install the vent.
