How To Switch for 5 on 4-1/2 Inch to 4 on 4 Inch Hubs On a Motorcycle Trailer
Question:
Bought a home made trailer to pull behind my goldwing and it is 12 inch with 5 x 4.5 pattern.do not like the current 12 inch trailer wheels or options available. Had in mind to look at way of golf cart since they have a large am out of of custom wheels. The thing is that they all 4 bolt patterns. Can I change the 5 lug hubs to a 4 lug hub to put on golf cart wheel and radial tires? Thank you

In order to switch for trailer hubs with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern to trailer hubs with 4 on 4" bolt pattern you'll need to know the bearing numbers. If you have L44649 bearings then you can easily switch to the 4 on 4" bolt pattern using the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-440-2-2K which is pre-greased so there's no mess involved.
In order to confirm your bearing numbers you'll need to pull the hubs apart. If you have any other bearing combo then you would't be able to switch hubs.
