How Does the Convert A Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter With Offset Add Clearance
Question:
The adapters with offsets are confusing to me as nothing is gained when truck is 90° to the camper. Please explain this to me. I have a 2004 F250SD with a gooseneck ball that measures 38inch back from cab. Its a 66inch box.

The Convert-A-Ball Fifth-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter with Offset, # CAB-C5GX1216, is designed to be used with truck beds longer than 6 ft that are looking to get that extra couple inches of clearance. This offset adapter is not necessarily designed to allow for safe 90 degree turns, but it will allow you to make a tighter turn than you would be able to without the offset.
Since you have a 5-1/2 ft bed on your 2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty, the only option that you will have to safely make a 90 degree turn is by using a fifth wheel hitch and a sidewinder pin box. I have attached a link to all of the fifth wheel hitches and installation kits that we carry for your truck. You will want to choose a hitch that can handle the weight of your fifth wheel trailer when it is fully loaded and ready to tow.
The sidewinder pin boxes specific to the pin box that you have on your trailer. If you know the make and model of your pin box, then we can select the correct sidewinder for you. I have also attached an article for you to review on sidewinders. At the bottom of the article is a list of all of the sidewinder pin boxes for each OEM pin box.
If you do not know the make and model of your pin box, then you can take a few measurements to figure out which pin box you have. I have also attached an article on how to measure your pin box. If you can tell me the gross trailer weight of your trailer as well as the make and model of your pin box, then I can recommend the correct hitch and sidewinder for you.
