Will 89 Inch Hub to Hub Axle Have Enough Clearance for 77-1/2 Inch Frame to Frame Dimension

Question:

Im building a new trailer that has a 77.5 outside to outside frame rail dimension. I was wondering if the 89 5 X 4 1/2 with a 4 would be long enough for tire clearance. Also could I get the axles shipped with the spring brackets not welded on the axles. I could supply pictures if needed.

It is recommended you have 2 inches of clearance from the trailer frame to the inside of the tire so the 89 inch Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - 4" Drop - E-Z Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 # 8327812-EB will have the needed tire clearance for a 77-1/2 inch outside to outside trailer frame. This is going to depend on the tires you have. If they are 8 inches or so wide you would be cutting it close. Additionally, they can only be shipped with the spring seats welded on, as that's how we receive them from the manufacturer.

I have added links to a couple help articles on trailer suspension for you which I hope are useful as you build your trailer.
