How do You Test a Trailer Breakaway Kit After Installatiion
Question:
Hello, Ive had a look at the installation instructions you posted, along with the videos and product description for the Tekonsha trailer breakaway kit Im considering. Having not found the answer in the installation instructions, once installed, how do you test the system, to ensure its going to work when/if necessary?

To test a trailer breakaway kit like Tekonsha Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit part # 50-85-313 you will simply lift your tires off of the ground one at a time and pull the plunger out of the brake away switch. When installed properly the tire off of the ground should not spin if you try to turn it. Repeat this for each wheel and that will ensure that the breakaway kit is working and also confirm your brakes are working properly. Let's say you did this and one wheel would turn while the other didn't this would mean the wiring to that assembly is bad or that the brake assembly is not adjusted properly which you can adjust if necessary with Brake Adjustment Spoon part # W80630
