Recommendations for Carrying a Dirt Bike with a 2007 Dodge Caliber R/T AWD
Question:
I would like to carry a dirt bike on the back of my dodge caliber. The bike carrier requires a 2inch opening. Can i get a class 3 with a 2inch for my car? The dirt bike weights around 220 lbs. Does a class I come with a 2inch opening?

The only trailer hitches available for a 2007 Dodge Caliber are Class I trailer hitches that have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. They also have a 200 pound tongue weight capacity which is not going to be high enough to support the weight of the bike and carrier.
A higher capacity hitch is not available because the vehicle cannot support the weight. Make sure to consult the vehicle owners manual in the towing section to determine the towing capacities of your Caliber.
What I recommend is installing a trailer hitch like # C11006 and then towing a small trailer. This will greatly reduce the stress on the hitch and it will be the safest way to transport the bike.
For a1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # C55050. I have included links to the installation instructions for the hitch and the wiring for you.
