Does My Generator Need To Be Grounded To Function
Question:
I cannot get my inverter generator to supply power to my RV. There seems to a problem with getting a ground connection between the generator and RV. I am using a 30amp cable and appropriate 3-prong plugs on both sides of the cable. I plug into both the gen and RV and no power is suppled. I can take the same cable and attached a regular 120 plug to the cable, connect to an outside 120v outlet and everything works in the RV. Is the some kind of adapter needed to supply the ground to the RV?

There are some generators that need to be grounded to function. For example the A-iPower 3,800-Watt Portable Inverter Generators part # 289-SUA2000i-2 would need to be grounded using the bolt/nut on the face. I have attached photo of what that looks like. There is not an adapter to ground them but you would most likely need to ground it with an included wire or like the photo shows. If you let me know which generator you have I can look into it for you.
