Differences Between a Class II Trailer Hitch and a Class III Trailer Hitch for use of a Bike Rack
Question:
In the product information it states that this item is for class II hitch receivers only, I have a class III hitch and I dont really understand the difference. Can you tell me what the difference is between a Class II and class III and also if this hitch would work on my 2007 Infinti FX35 with a Curt hitch.

Expert Reply:
The bike rack you have selected will fit in a 2 inch by 2 inch hitch. The Class II only disclaimer is for the 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch hitch model of this bike rack, # Y02445.
The differences between class II and class III are the size of the hitch opening, 1 1/4 inch square as opposed to the class III 2 inch square opening, and the weight capacity of the hitches. This bike rack will fit your class III hitch (see instructions link below).
We have an article that explains the differences between hitch Classes for you to review.
