Brake Controller and Weight Distribution for 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and 3.5K Trailer

Question:

Hello, Just bought a trailer that is 3500 lbs dry. The tongue weight is 350 lbs. I have the factory tow package on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a 4 pin hitch adapter. I need a 7 pin. Also need a brake controller and weight distributing hitch with sway bars. What products do you recommend?

Thank you for all of the details! It really helps to narrow down what is best for your application!

For a brake controller I really like recommending the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR for a few reasons; you can install it virtually anywhere since you only need access to the 3/4" diameter control knob, it uses color coding to communicate the different settings so you don't have to try to read anything, and then it features 2 different modes (proportional and user-control) so that you get the most control over your trailer braking action whether you are towing on the highway or overlanding (which is becoming increasingly popular among Jeep Wrangler owners).

To connect this to the 4-Way on your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited you need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This gives you a fully-functioning 7-Way as well as a 4-Way connector in the event that you tow a smaller trailer.

When it comes to a weight distribution (WD) system, the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0600 that you were looking at is a very popular system that has received great reviews from our customers and does a great job at leveling out your towing setup. This is a middle-of-the-road system so if you're in the market for something that gets the job done without carrying a premium price-tag then this is the system for you.

You do need a hitch ball like part # EQ91-00-6080 or # EQ91-00-6100 as well as a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800. I also recommend using a tongue weight scale like part # e99044 to make sure that your trailer is rated properly with a tongue weight that is 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight.

I have attached a review video of the Fastway e2 as well as an installation video of the Tow-Pro Elite and the ETBC7 kit on a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited that you can check out.
