In order to convert a 4-way on a 2017 Jeep Renegade so you can tow a trailer with a 7-way way that has electric brakes you will only need a few things, a 4 to 7-way adapter and a brake controller. I have two great options for the adapter and brake controller but I highly recommend going the wireless route. The wireless route only requires very minimal installation and far less modifications to the vehicle which is why I recommend this option though it will set you back a bit more than the wired route.

The 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L paired with the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 is the best wireless option we have for you. For installation, you simply need to plug in the adapter, ground it and run a power wire to the battery. If you were to go the wired route using the Universal Installation Kit part # ETBC7 and Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 for example then you would have to run the above wires but also several more and splice into factory wires on the vehicle. The wireless route does not require any factory wires to be spliced into which is why this is such as great option.
