Can Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System be Installed on CE Smith Boat and Kayak Trailer

Question:

Would it be possible to install the stub torsion axles on this trailer? If so, which would you recommend? Thanks for your time

I reached out to my contact at Timbren and confirmed that you can install one of their Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Systems on the CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer 800 lbs # CE48870, so long as a cross member is used by either welding or bolting it on. Since Timbren doesn't make an 800 lb Axle-Less System, your best option is the 1,200 lb system # ASR1200S04. I've attached a video where we used a cross member to install # ASR1200S04 as well as a link to the complete installation instructions for you to check out.

The hubs used on the Multi Sport Trailer use different size bearings, so for compatible hubs, I recommend using the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. The nice thing about these is their superior galvanized finish which are ideal for boat trailer applications and will help resist rust and corrosion.

Keep in mind that this does not automatically increase the overall capacity of your trailer from 800 lbs to 1,200 lbs. While it's true that most of the time the limiting factor on a trailer is its suspension and axle components, there may be other unknown aspects of the trailer that are not equipped to handle anything higher than the 800 lbs specified by the manufacturer.
