Will Ultimate Trailer Jack Sit Flush With Collar For Tailgate Clearance

Question:

regarding Ultimate Trailer Jack - A-Frame - Topwind - 27-1/2inch Lift - 2,000 lbs Item # 322-RDJ-2K. I know the minimum distance between the top of the handle and bottom of collar plate is 7 1/4 inch in the lowest lockedinch position. Will the tube slide further down into the collar if it is not in a lockedinch position? I need just 2 inch of additional clearance to allow my tail gate to be fully lowered w/o hitting the top of the jack.

The Ultimate Trailer Jack - A-Frame - Topwind - 27-1/2" Lift - 2,000 lbs part # 322-RDJ-2K will not sit flush with the collar even when unpinned. The jack locks into place automatically. There will be about 7-1/4" from the collar to the top of the handle which is actually low profile clearance compared to some of the other jack options that have 11 inches or more. This is going to be the lowest profile option we have at this time. The handle of the Ultimate Trailer Jack folds down as well so that won't be sticking up. I have attached photos for your reference.

Another option is to use a longer ball mount which will push the trailer away from the vehicle further for tailgate clearance. I recommend to use Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BM20 which will give you the additional length to your setup for clearance.
