Can the Wiring Harness Mounting Bracket be Removed from Draw-Tite Hitch 75742 for a 2012 Honda CR-V
Question:
Is it possible to order Draw-Tite hitch 75742 without the wiring harness mounting bracket? I have already wired my 2012 Honda CRV and terminated the harness inside the vehicle so the mounting bracket is not necessary. If the hitch cannot be ordered without the bracket, what would be your recommendation for how to remove the bracket and protect the hitch from rust. Thanks for your help.

The wiring harness bracket is welded onto Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75742. I do not recommend removing it because doing so will void the hitch warranty and could possibly compromise the structural integrity of the hitch.
For a hitch that does not have the mounting bracket welded to it, take a look at Curt hitch, # C13119. I have included some links to the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.
For non-trailer loads (like bike racks and cargo carriers) you will need to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, to be in compliance with Curts warranty requirements.
