Ebikes Bike Carrier Recommendation For Flat Towing And Tow Vehicle
Question:
We are new to this so any info you can give us will be very helpful !! We just purchased 2 ebikes. A Radrover and a Radcity...one weighs 68 and the other 62 pounds. My understanding is that your rack will only hold a 50 bike.... ?? is that correct ?? If not, what is the weight we can safely use ? We will be using your hitch on our truck and motorhome. Regarding the motorhome, will the rack and bikes get in the way of towing our car ?? Thxs !

Welcome to the club and very happy to help! You've selected a great bike rack option but I have an even better solution for you regarding the weight capacity. You are correct the # HR1450Z-FB is limited to 50lbs per bike while the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY74FR will carry 2 ebikes up to 80lbs each so this will be a better fit. Looking online it seems the Radrover has 26" x 4" tires and the Radcity 26" x 2.3" tires so this rack should work fine, accommodating tires up to 5" in width and a maximum wheelbase of 60".
You can use a dual hitch adapter like the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6 designed specifically for flat towing. This will allow you to safely carry your bikes while flat towing your truck without any problems. You'll just need to make sure your combined tongue weight (truck, bike rack and bikes) do not exceed the hitch adapter's 400 lb capacity.
