Which Sherpa Bike Rack Solution Has Better Ground Clearance the 2 inch or 1-1/4 inch Version

Question:

I have noticed that the 1.25 model with the rising offset mount might have more ground clearance when going up driveways, etc. than the 2in straight-shank mount, maybe by about 3 inches... Is this so? And if so, and if i wanted the extra clearance, would the 1.25 model with Kuats 1.25-2in adapter be noticeably more wobblyinch in my 2in receiver than the 2in model, do you think? Application: 2019 Honda HR-V with your 306-X7322 2in EcoHitch Finally, I have to ask you because I havent yet bought the unit to examine closely, but it looks like I could assemble either model without the first tray and Id want to remove the separator bar for my one-bike-only application by using shorter M10 socket-head cap screws, and I wouldnt have all that unneeded hardware sticking out so far and getting in the way. Has anyone tried that or do you have an expert opinion on the possibility of such assembly, only, disregarding any opinions the manufacturer might have about modding their product? You have a wonderfully complete, thorough website. Ive just ordered the 2in hitch from you and now am happy to see that you sell the bike rack that I think I want, as well. Im looking forward to using your site as much as I can. Thank you for all your hard work:-

The 1-1/4 inch version of the Kuat Sherpa part # SH12P does have more rise built into the shank of the rack than the 2 inch version part # SH22P. If you used a sleeve style hitch adapter you would have some noticeable movement between the rack and the hitch. It wouldn't be crazy but it depends on how stable you want the rack and the hitch. For an adapter then you'd want the part # HT02 if that is the route you want to go with the EcoHitch # 306-X7322.

We really can't endorse or give advice on assembly the rack in any other way than what the manufacturer recommends.
