Solar Kit for RV Roof For Maintenance Charge for Group 24/27 Batteries

Question:

How many watt solar panel would I need the maintain a full charge RV/ Marine group 24 or 27 battery? 20 watt, 50 watt, 80 watt? This solar panel will be mounted on the roof of my box trailer, that houses my motorcycle. Inside the trailer will house a power inverter the power a trickle charger connected to the motorcycle. This way my motorcycle is always charged and ready to ride. Thank you for your expert knowledge and opinion you can give me on this install.

Group 24 batteries are between 70 and 85 amp hour batteries and Group 27 are between 85 and 105 amp hour batteries. A maintenance charge on a battery would only require a couple amps to keep the batteries topped off so a 20 watt kit like the # 34273837 would easily keep the battery topped off. This would provide 1.65 amps to the battery.

If you think the battery will be depleted at any point before storage a higher rated charger would do a better job bringing the battery back from this state. The # 34272627 is going to do a better job with this as it can put out up to 6.6 amps. You should also note that these kits won't allow the battery to be overcharged or damage it in anyway once the battery is fully charged.
